70年代中期驰骋于美国流行乐坛的重金属组合“Aerosmith”演唱组是当时美国最著名的乐队之一。他们的足迹遍布全美国，所到之处，人们拥挤在巨大的露天广场，争先恐后的急于一睹“Aerosmith”的令人兴奋的精彩表演。
在1970年夏天,于Sunapee渡假的Steve Tyler,结识了在冰淇淋店打工的Joe Perry,两人在共同欣赏一场当地的小型演唱会后,决定组团.然后Perry介绍了原本跟他同团(The Jam Band)的贝斯手Tom Hamilton,打算组成一个三人的团.Tyler同时还担任鼓手,后来Tyler邀请他高中时的同学Joey Kramer加入担任鼓手.而另一位吉他手Brad Whitford则是在团员们决定搬进波士顿的一间公寓后才加入.他们曾考虑过的团名有The Hookers,Spike Jones,..等.最后在鼓手Kramer的建议下才正式定名为AEROSMITH.首度公演是在Nipmuc公立高中,演奏了包括John Lennon,The Rolling Stones以及The yardbirds等作品.
“Aerosmith”成立于1970年夏天的波士顿，乐队创立初期的主要成员是史蒂夫.泰勒（Steve Tyler,1948/3- ),乔.佩利（Joe Perry,1950/10- ),不拉德.惠特福德（Brad Whitford,1952/6- ),汤姆.汉米尔顿（Tom Hamilton,1951/12- )和乔.克雷摩尔（Joey Kramer,1950/6- )开始他们主要在大学和夜总会演出。直到1972年他们推出唱片《Aerosmith》之后才逐渐引起人们的注意并逐渐成为一支著名的流行摇滚乐队。
1976年他们的作品《Walk This Way》名列当年度10首最佳流行歌曲第二名。80年代，“Aerosmith”锐气不减，曾赴加拿大和其他国家进行巡回演出，颇受流行乐爱好者的钟爱。
